Week 7 - Update

G - My goal is to take a risk by developing lessons that incorporate digital-age learning experiences and model the technology and process for my students.
A - The actions I will take are as follows: I will work with the technology integrator at my school to help in my lesson planning and learning about any technology that is involved.
M - I will monitor my lessons and planning according to student involvement and enthusiasm and the completion of the task. They will have rubrics to help them chunk the tasks.
E - The evaluation will be the assessment of the students' work/project(s). If they were successful, I will know that I am on the right track. I can assess them with quizzes and tests also to see if they learned what was intended. I will extend my learning by sitting down again with the technology integrator and evaluating the lessons and the students' end product.

I am finally feeling comfortable with the progress I am making on my GAME plan. I have started working more closely with my technology integrator. She has me using Photo Story for the first time and I'm really liking it! I am taking more risks with my students and they are very enthusiastic about what we are doing and that energizes me to keep going. I have found that they are not as technology savvy as I assumed and that takes away some of my stress. I try to stay one step ahead of them, but the truth is we are learning together in many ways and that has created an interesting bond I did not anticipate. We have a wonderful rapport, but this technology dimension has just added to it. It is turning out to be a risk I am so glad I took! :-)

    It's a shock when you find out your kids aren't quite the "tech whizzes" you assumed they were, huh? When I found out the majority of mine didn't know how to attach a file to an e-mail, I was floored!

    I agree that learning together does create a particular type of bond. It helps them see you, not as "the all-knowing, all-seeing, super teacher god," but as human.

    Your kids are lucky to have you, Sherry! :)

    I wish that I had a technology integrator! I like how you have already started with your digital storytelling in your classroom already. I am glad that you are able to stay one step ahead of your students on the technology, which can be a hard thing to do. One thing that I want to keep encouraging you on is making those rubrics! I think that helps focus students attention on the projects. Great work Sherry.

    Good for you! Think of the problem solving skills your students are learning from your example! This type of learning is priceless, because when they know you are learning alongside them, they can feel confident that they can take a risk and make a mistake! Great job!
