Week 4: Assessing Content Area Learning

My GAME plan is coming together, slowly, but surely. In addressing this week's questions...

Are you finding the information and resources you need? Yes. I found a three-hour technology training the week after Thanksgiving that will (hopefully) really help me in my meeting my goals. I'm so excited! The timing was perfect.

Do you need to modify your action plan? I guess I won't really know until after my training.

What have you learned so far? I have learned that I don't need to be so intimidated by this process. There are so many people who are willing to help and the resources are there in my district if I just look for and ask for them.

What new questions have arisen? I will ask my technology integrator what is available to me and how state testing of core subjects might limit me in my "dreaming" of all this amazing technology. Unfortunately, my reality has been that math, social studies, English and science get first dibs in everything and the rest of us (I'm Spanish) get the left overs. I supposed another thing I'm learning is that there are things out there...even for me and my students. :-)

  1. It sounds like you are making good progress with your GAME plan. What great news about the technology training opportunity. It is perfect timing! You are right; there are always people willing to help you out! If you just ask, people will help you anyway they can. Our technology folks have worked really hard to get us a tech cart that we can roll in and out of the gym, since its contents could not be installed permanently. They are eager to help as we implement more and more technology into our pe classes! I hope the training class is very beneficial for you.

  2. Sherry,
Super in finding some help! I am glad you are becoming more comfortable.
Have you heard of e-pals (www.epals.com)? I always see Spanish speaking classes looking for others to communicate and collaborate with. This might be of a great benefit to your students.

  3. Sherry,

If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it is to ALWAYS ask... for everything and anything! Worst case, they say no, but you'll never know unless you ask! :)
